Iran says preliminary deal reached on frozen funds abroad

Iran’s foreign minister said Wednesday that a preliminary deal had been reached with a foreign bank over frozen funds belonging to the Islamic republic. “An accord was concluded with a foreign bank to release a part of our financial claims,” Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said at a news conference. “This is a preliminary agreement on when and how to release the funds,” he added. U.S. life expectancy fell by 2 years in 2020, sharpest drop among high-income peers

By Mrinalika Roy (Reuters) – Life expectancy in the United States fell by nearly two years in 2020 to about 77 years amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the sharpest drop compared to 21 other high-income countries, according to a global study. Americans on average are now expected to live for 76.99 years from 78.86 years in 2019, according to the study, which looked at national death and population counts in 2019 and 2020 to calculate the mortality rate ratio.
