Seoul: A senior official at the Presidential Security Service (PSS) again defied a police request to appear for questioning Tuesday over allegations he blocked investigators' attempt to detain impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol. Kim Shin, the senior PSS official who is known as one of the loyalists for Yoon, failed to appear for questioning as of 10 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Office of Investigation.
According to Yonhap News Agency, police plan to send another summons to Kim. Police have booked five senior officials of the PSS, including Kim, on charges of special obstruction of public duty over their role in blocking Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) from executing a warrant to detain Yoon earlier this month.
An attempt to detain Yoon over his botched martial law bid was called off on Jan. 3 due to a tense standoff between investigators and members of the PSS.
