Pyeongtaek: KG Mobility Corp. has announced a new technical cooperation agreement with Phinia Delphi France SAS to jointly advance hydrogen engine technology. This partnership is part of a South Korean government initiative aiming to create a cost-effective commercial hydrogen engine, in collaboration with the Korea Automotive Technology Institute.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the agreement was formalized during a signing ceremony at KG Mobility's research center in Pyeongtaek, located south of Seoul. The project focuses on developing a 2-liter diesel-based hydrogen engine, alongside a versatile vehicle suitable for both industrial and passenger use.
Phinia Delphi France, recognized globally for its critical engine components, will contribute fuel injection equipment systems and electronic control unit technologies. These components will be integrated with KG Mobility's existing diesel engine technologies, creating a synergy aimed at pioneering advancements in hydrogen engine development.
An official from KG Mobility emphasized the strategic importance of this collaboration, stating, "This collaboration will not only enable us to develop cutting-edge hydrogen engines but also pave the way for new markets, such as alternative fuel vehicles and eco-friendly pickups." The partnership signifies a step forward in the automotive industry's shift toward sustainable and eco-friendly transportation solutions.
