Four Carmakers to Recall Over 340,000 Vehicles for Faulty Parts

Seoul: Hyundai Motor Co., Kia Corp., Mercedes-Benz Korea, and Tesla Korea will voluntarily recall more than 340,000 vehicles due to faulty components, as announced by the transport ministry on Thursday. The recall involves a total of 343,250 units across 11 different models.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Hyundai Motor will recall 141,125 units of two models, including the Porter II Electric, due to a design error in the battery sensor. Furthermore, 19,830 units of the Nexo will be recalled to address a defect in the emergency light switch.

Kia is set to recall 89,598 units of the Sorento Hybrid and one other model because of a software error. Mercedes-Benz Korea is recalling 4,068 units from two models, including the S580 4MATIC, due to an issue with the engine control unit software. Tesla Korea is addressing concerns in 2,425 units of the Model Y and another model, also due to a software error.
