Seoul: SK IE Technology Co. (SKIET), a South Korean battery separator company, announced on Thursday that it has entered into an initial agreement with a Chinese battery manufacturer to explore joint opportunities in the European and North American battery sectors.
According to Yonhap News Agency, SKIET has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with China's Gotion. The collaboration aims to supply batteries for electric vehicles (EVs) and energy storage systems (ESSs) across Europe and North America. This strategic partnership is expected to create business synergies for both companies in the global EV and ESS markets, as highlighted by a company official in a press release.
Under the agreement, SKIET will provide battery separators to Gotion's battery facilities currently under construction in Slovakia and Illinois, United States. SKIET is a subsidiary of SK Innovation Co., which includes the battery-producing affiliate SK On Co.
