Presidential Office Awaits Constitutional Court’s Decision on Yoon’s Impeachment

Seoul: The presidential office announced its intention to "calmly" await the Constitutional Court's ruling on the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol. The impeachment case centers around Yoon's brief attempt to declare martial law.

According to Yonhap News Agency, a senior official from the presidential office stated in a press notice that they are prepared to accept the court's decision, which is expected to be delivered on Friday. This statement came after the Constitutional Court confirmed the date for the ruling.

In related developments, Chung Jin-suk, the chief of presidential staff, convened a meeting with senior aides to review the March trade balance report and the U.S. Trade Representative's (USTR) annual report on foreign trade barriers. The USTR's 2025 National Trade Estimate Report identified several areas of concern, including South Korea's defense procurement offset program, regulations on emissions for imported vehicles, and pharmaceutical pricing policies.

The presidential office indicated it would collaborate with relevant agencies to address the trade issues highlighted in the USTR report and develop appropriate response strategies.
