Seoul: The top military officers of South Korea and Canada met in Seoul on Thursday, engaging in talks aimed at strengthening their cooperation for peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) Chairman Adm. Kim Myung-soo and Gen. Jennie Carignan, Canada's Chief of the Defence Staff, held the discussions at the JCS headquarters.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Carignan emphasized the importance of close cooperation between friendly nations. During the meeting, Adm. Kim Myung-soo shared his assessment of the current security situation and expressed his commitment to enhancing bilateral military cooperation. He highlighted the increasing importance of their collaboration, particularly in light of the deepening military ties between Russia and North Korea, which he described as a threat not only to the Korean Peninsula but to the broader international community.
Gen. Carignan's visit to South Korea was part of her inaugural trip to the Indo-Pacific region in her current capacity. Her tour also included stops in Hawaii in the United States, Japan, and the Philippines.
