Suwon: One of the two Chinese teenagers, who were booked for illegally filming fighter jets near a major airbase in Suwon, south of Seoul, last month, has allegedly told investigators that his father is a public security officer, police officials said Tuesday. According to Yonhap News Agency, the two Chinese nationals are suspected of using their DSLR camera and mobile phone to film fighter jets taking off and landing at the Air Force's 10th Fighter Wing at around 3:30 p.m. on March 21. These teenagers reportedly attend high school in China and had arrived in South Korea on a tourist visa just three days prior to the incident, raising questions about the purpose of their visit.
The Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency, the National Intelligence Service, and the Defense Security Command have since formed a joint investigation team to delve deeper into the case. Their focus is on verifying the statement from one of the teens that his father holds a position as a Chinese public security officer.
