Seoul: Acting President Han Duck-soo announced that the government is committed to supporting the local animation industry by establishing a specialized fund and encouraging investment. Han made this statement during a ministerial meeting, emphasizing the government's intention to develop the animation sector as a new growth driver for Korean pop culture content, known as "K-contents."
According to Yonhap News Agency, the government has formulated a basic plan to enhance the animation industry. This includes creating an animation-specialized fund aimed at significant investments in small and medium-sized enterprises and venture firms in the sector. The plan also involves promoting investment in over-the-top (OTT) services, broadcasting companies, and venture capital.
The acting president further highlighted that the government will facilitate the development of technology to integrate artificial intelligence and other advancements into animation production. There is also a focus on nurturing skilled professionals in the industry.
In addition to animation, the ministerial meeting addressed plans to improve standards for the production, distribution, and storage of drinking water, as well as initiatives to enhance digital maritime navigation systems.
