Seoul: Samsung SDI Co. on Friday reported its first-quarter net loss of 216 billion won (US$150.5 million), marking a significant shift from a profit of 286.7 billion won in the same period a year earlier.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the company disclosed in a regulatory filing that it experienced an operating loss of 434.1 billion won for the January-March period, compared with an operating profit of 249.1 billion won a year ago. Furthermore, the company's sales saw a decline of 34 percent, amounting to 3.17 trillion won.
The reported loss was notably 18.5 percent lower than the average estimate, as per a survey conducted by Yonhap Infomax, the financial data division of Yonhap News Agency.
