Seoul: Prosecutors said Friday they will reinvestigate a stock price manipulation case allegedly involving former first lady Kim Keon Hee. The Seoul High Prosecutors Office announced the decision following the Supreme Court's confirmation of the convictions of nine individuals involved in manipulating stock prices of Deutsch Motors, a BMW dealer in South Korea, during 2009-2012.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the reinvestigation follows a previous decision by the prosecution not to indict Kim last October after examining her alleged involvement in the scheme. This new development indicates a renewed focus on the case and the potential implications for all parties involved.
Separately, the prosecutors office stated it has rejected an appeal demanding a reinvestigation into Kim's alleged illegal acceptance of a luxury handbag, indicating that this aspect of the allegations will not be pursued further at this time.
