Marine Corps Conducts Extensive Amphibious Landing Drills in Pohang

Pohang: The Marine Corps announced on Monday that it executed routine amphibious landing drills in a southeastern coastal city, aiming to sustain its combat readiness. The exercises were carried out in Pohang, located approximately 270 kilometers southeast of Seoul, and involved around 3,200 troops. The operation also included the deployment of KF-16 fighter jets and several Navy vessels, notably the ROKS Marado amphibious assault ship.

According to Yonhap News Agency, reconnaissance drones were initially utilized by the troops to scout the area before making landfall on the coast using amphibious assault vehicles. These actions were part of a simulated defense against enemy threats, including exploding drones. The drills emphasized the importance of overcoming obstacles and securing the coastal region by employing combat engineers, armored bulldozers, and mine-clearing equipment.
