Seoul: Kumho Tire Co. on Tuesday reported its first-quarter net income of 102 billion won (US$70.9 million), marking a 12.1 percent increase from the same period last year. The company announced these results in a regulatory filing, revealing a slight decline in operating profit for the January to March timeframe, which decreased by 0.6 percent year-on-year to 144.8 billion won. Meanwhile, sales showed a significant increase of 15.5 percent, reaching 1.2 trillion won.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the earnings surpassed market expectations, as analysts had estimated a net profit of 85.5 billion won based on a survey conducted by Yonhap Infomax, the financial data firm of Yonhap News Agency. This positive financial performance showcases Kumho Tire's ability to exceed market predictions despite the minor dip in operating profit.
