Supreme Court to Rule on Election Law Violation Case of DP Presidential Candidate Lee Jae-myung

Seoul: The Supreme Court has announced that it will deliver its ruling on the election law violation case involving Democratic Party (DP) presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung this Thursday at 3 p.m. This decision comes shortly after Lee secured his party's nomination for the upcoming June 3 presidential election.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the case reached the Supreme Court following an appeal by prosecutors against last month's high court ruling. The high court had acquitted Lee of accusations that he lied during his candidacy in the 2022 election, a decision that overturned an earlier lower court's sentence which included a suspended prison term. The outcome of this ruling holds significant implications for Lee, who is currently the leading candidate in the presidential race.
