Seoul: Rookie girl group Meovv is poised to make a significant impact on the K-pop scene with the release of its first physical album, "My Eyes Open Vvide," which is set to launch on Monday evening. The group aims to usher in a new era by showcasing its unique musical universe.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Meovv debuted last September under The Black Label, a company led by renowned producer Teddy, known for his work with BIGBANG, 2NE1, and BLACKPINK. The five-member group has crafted an identity that channels the characteristics of cats, described by members as "chic and lovely," and now looks to expand this image through their latest album.
The album comprises six tracks, including the debut song "Meow" and previously released tracks such as "Toxic" and "Hands Up." The lead track, "Drop Top," is a pop song with rock elements, emphasizing an individual's unique perspective on the world. The song transitions from a calm tone to energetic rhythms, capturing the essence of Meovv's musical journey.
Member Gawon, who contributed to the song's lyrics, shared insights into "Drop Top," revealing it was the first song recorded with their own music during their trainee days. She noted that the lyrics encapsulate the idea of cherishing the present moment as the most precious.
The music video for "Drop Top" provided the members with a liberating experience, allowing them to express their genuine selves. Member Anna highlighted the freedom during filming, mentioning scenes where Sooin, Gawon, and Ella appeared to fly, illustrating the group's creative and dynamic approach.
As Meovv prepares for this milestone, the group is eager for fans to witness their growth and evolution in the K-pop industry.
