Int’l Maritime Defense Exhibition Begins in Busan

Busan: A biennial international maritime defense trade show hosted by the South Korean Navy has commenced in the southeastern city of Busan. The four-day International Maritime Defense Industry Exhibition, taking place at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center, gathers approximately 200 defense firms from 14 countries, as reported by the Navy.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the event will showcase a variety of warships and defense equipment, including the ROKS Marado amphibious landing ship, the ROKS Gyeongnam frigate, and the Korean Amphibious Assault Vehicle. In response to the increasing demand for unmanned assets, the exhibition will feature unmanned surface and underwater vehicles, drones, and an advanced submarine that incorporates artificial intelligence and automation technologies.

Bilateral discussions aimed at enhancing maritime security cooperation are scheduled to occur alongside the trade show, with foreign delegations from 29 countries participating in the event. The exhibition, which was first held in 1998, continues to serve as a significant platform for maritime defense collaboration and innovation.
