Seoul: An old commercial building in central Seoul caught fire Wednesday, and firefighters were battling the blaze, authorities said. The fire erupted in the building located in Jung Ward at 3:25 p.m., causing a delay in containment due to the densely packed neighborhood, as reported by a firefighting official.
According to Yonhap News Agency, no casualties have been reported so far. However, a man in his 70s who inhaled smoke was transported to a hospital, officials stated. The incident led fire authorities to close a nearby road, resulting in traffic congestion in the area.
The fire is believed to have originated in a warehouse inside the building and gradually spread throughout the structure. Authorities responded by issuing a Level 2 emergency response at 4:37 p.m., deploying 100 vehicles, five excavators, and 446 personnel to combat the blaze.
