Ex-President Moon Hails ‘Great Choice’ as Lee Certain to Win Presidency

Seoul: Former President Moon Jae-in has hailed what he calls a "great choice by the people" as Democratic Party candidate Lee Jae-myung was certain to win the presidential election. In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Moon said, "I join in the people as they congratulate Lee on his election as president."

According to Yonhap News Agency, Moon stated that the election outcome represents a stern judgment on the Yoon Suk Yeol administration's handling of state affairs and the insurrection that caused nationwide unrest. He emphasized that this result reflects the people's earnest desire for a new direction for South Korea.

Moon expressed his hope that the nation would "leap forward with President Lee Jae-myung" at the helm. He added that he expects the new government to revive the economy, improve people's livelihoods, protect national interests amid global turbulence, and guide the country toward a peaceful future.

South Korea's three major broadcasters have projected Lee as the winner of the presidential election held on Tuesday.
