Seoul: BGF Retail Co., the operator of CU convenience stores, has announced the launch of the industry's first-ever "tattoo kiosk" designed to enhance the in-store customer experience.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the tattoo kiosk enables users to print temporary tattoos onto their skin in just 1-2 seconds using a simple rolling device. Customers have the option to select from over 100 designs, which include Korean cultural motifs such as palaces and tigers, as mentioned in a press release by the company.
The tattoos are made using cosmetic-grade pigment ink that complies with South Korean safety regulations and lasts for approximately two days. To cater to foreign customers, the kiosk supports three foreign languages: English, Chinese, and Japanese, the company noted.
BGF Retail has expressed its intention to transform CU stores into lifestyle hubs by offering interactive and experience-based services that go beyond conventional retail. This initiative aligns with their strategy to adapt to the evolving needs of customers.
In the previous year, CU introduced in-store services such as capsule toy machines and smoothie makers, which have gained popularity, especially among younger customers.
"We will continue to introduce services tailored to evolving customer needs, expanding the role of CU convenience stores," the company stated.
BGF Retail currently operates a total of 680 CU outlets in Mongolia, Malaysia, and Kazakhstan, in addition to 18,600 locations within South Korea.
