Naver Cloud to Deploy AI Chatbot CLOVA CareCall in Izumo

Izumo: Naver Cloud Corp., the cloud service affiliate of IT giant Naver Corp., announced that it has secured an agreement with the city of Izumo in southern Japan to deploy its artificial intelligence (AI) phone chatbot service, CLOVA CareCall. This initiative aims to implement an AI-based sustainable care system in the city.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the city of Izumo, situated in Shimane Prefecture, is recognized as a super-aged city, with nearly 30 percent of its population aged 65 or older. CLOVA CareCall is designed to assist elderly and middle-aged individuals living alone by making automated phone calls to ensure their well-being.

Naver Cloud, in collaboration with Izumo, has already initiated a pilot program in selected areas of the city. There are plans to extend the service across the entire city within the first half of the upcoming year.

Chae Seon-ju, head of strategic business at Naver, stated, "We proposed the CLOVA CareCall service to Japan, which is facing similar challenges posed by a rapidly aging society, to seek joint solutions."
