Seoul: Xiaomi Technology Korea LLC, the South Korean unit of China's tech giant Xiaomi Corp., announced the opening of its first offline store in South Korea as part of its global expansion strategy. The store is located in Yeouido, Seoul, and offers a variety of products including smartphones, smartwatches, TVs, vacuum cleaners, and other home appliances.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the South Korean branch of Xiaomi was established in January, accompanied by the launch of an official online mall aimed at selling flagship products in South Korea's competitive mobile market. This expansion is a significant step in Xiaomi's efforts to connect with local consumers and integrate its ecosystem more deeply into their daily lives.
Jony Wu, general manager of Xiaomi Korea, emphasized the importance of this development at a press conference in Seoul. He highlighted that the new store provides a seamless journey from purchase to after-sales service, thereby enhancing customer experience. The store commenced sales of its flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 15, and the Xiaomi Smart Band 10 on its opening day. These products will also be available online starting Saturday, as confirmed by a company spokesperson.
Xiaomi's strategy involves initially promoting its products through the Seoul store, with plans to increase its retail presence across South Korea. The market is currently dominated by local giants such as Samsung Electronics Co. and LG Electronics Inc. Apart from the newly opened Korean outlet, Xiaomi also operates offline stores in Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong in East Asia.
