Suwon: K-pop girl group Ive will perform during the halftime of an upcoming exhibition football match featuring Newcastle United, match organizers announced Wednesday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Coupang Play, a South Korean streaming platform, announced the six-piece girl group as the halftime performer for the first match of the annual Coupang Play series between Newcastle and Team K League. The match is scheduled for 8 p.m. on July 30 at Suwon World Cup Stadium, located approximately 30 kilometers south of Seoul.
Ive has gained significant success in the K-pop industry since its debut in 2021, achieving its fifth million-seller milestone earlier this year with the EP "Ive Empathy." Newcastle, the reigning English Football League Cup champions, will also face Tottenham Hotspur, led by South Korean star Son Heung-min, on August 3 at Seoul World Cup Stadium.
Team K League's lineup will consist of players selected by fans, along with one player under the age of 22. Fan voting is currently open and will continue until next Monday via Coupang Play's official social media pages.
Tickets to both matches are exclusively available through Coupang Play's official app. Priority presale for the first match will commence at 8 p.m. Wednesday, followed by the second match's presale at 8 p.m. Thursday. These presale tickets are exclusively available to subscribers of Coupang Play's "Sports Pass." The general ticket sale for the first match begins at 8 p.m. Friday, with the second match's sale starting at 8 p.m. on July 4.
