Seoul: CJ Logistics Corp., South Korea's leading logistics company, announced the appointment of industry veteran Jonathan Song as the head of its global business division, aiming to establish itself as a top-tier player in the international market. Song began his role as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CJ Logistics' Global Business division on Tuesday, the company stated in a press release.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Song brings over 30 years of experience in the global logistics industry. He has previously played a pivotal role in driving revenue and profit growth at U.S.-based logistics firm Expeditors International, where he established a reputation as a top-tier sales strategist in the competitive U.S. logistics market.
CJ Logistics expects Song's extensive expertise and market-based insights to enhance its global logistics network, which currently spans 46 countries. The company aims to become one of the world's top 10 logistics providers. "His leadership, combined with our vast international network and advanced logistics technologies, is expected to generate strong synergies and help realize that goal," the company remarked.
The appointment of Song is anticipated to strengthen CJ Logistics' presence in key markets, including the United States and India. In the U.S., the company is expanding its high-value cold chain operations by securing additional logistics centers in Georgia and Kansas, alongside constructing large-scale distribution centers in New Jersey and Illinois. Meanwhile, in India, CJ Logistics is bolstering its logistics capabilities through multimodal transport services that integrate road and rail networks.
