Incheon: A 52-year-old worker who had gone missing while inspecting a wastewater pipeline inside a manhole in Incheon was found dead, officials confirmed Monday. The man, who was employed by a sewer pipeline management company, was discovered roughly a day after fire authorities received a report of two individuals collapsing inside the utility hole.
According to Yonhap News Agency, one of the two victims, a 48-year-old man, was found in a state of cardiac arrest inside the manhole. Authorities suspect the possibility of exposure to poisonous gases, as hydrogen sulfide and carbon monoxide were detected within the underground pipeline.
An investigation has been initiated to determine the exact cause of the incident.
