Incheon: Hyundai Motor Co. announced the delivery of its X-ble Shoulder wearable robot units to Korean Airlines Co. This marks the inaugural delivery of the strength-enhancing equipment designed for workers since its introduction in late 2022. The delivery was celebrated with a ceremony at Korean Air's aircraft maintenance center in Incheon.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the X-ble Shoulder was developed by the Robotics Lab of Hyundai Motor and its affiliate Kia Corp. The wearable robot is engineered to minimize physical strain in the shoulder area during repetitive tasks, thereby reducing the risk of injury and enhancing work efficiency. Korean Air personnel will use the equipment in various aircraft maintenance operations, including work on unmanned aerial vehicles and space launch vehicles.
Hyundai and Kia plan to extend the delivery of these robots to other affiliates of Hyundai Motor Group and local manufacturing companies that have entered into procurement contracts. The global sales of the X-ble Shoulder are expected to commence in 2026.
