Seoul: The Niro Hybrid, an eco-friendly SUV from Kia Corp., emerged victorious in a competitive comparison test conducted by Germany's leading automotive magazine, Auto Zeitung, as announced by the South Korean automaker.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the German magazine evaluated five popular hybrid SUVs-Kia's Niro Hybrid, Peugeot's 2008 Hybrid, Volkswagen's T-Cross, Seat's Arona, and Toyota's Yaris Cross Hybrid-across five key categories, including body, driving comfort, and driving dynamics. The Niro Hybrid took first place in driving comfort and driving dynamics, and second place in body and powertrain, achieving a total score of 2,926 points, the highest among the competing models. Peugeot's 2008 Hybrid and Volkswagen's T-Cross both secured second place with 2,880 points each.
The publication also noted the Niro Hybrid's fuel efficiency, recorded at 5.3 liters per 100 kilometers. Auto Zeitung commended the Niro Hybrid for its interior space, which is comparable to higher-class models, while maintaining a price within the compact urban SUV category. A Kia official stated that the results reinforce the Niro Hybrid's global competitiveness and emphasized the company's commitment to maintaining its leadership in the global SUV market through high-quality products and advanced technology.
