Ex-NCT Member Taeil Sentenced to 3 1/2 Years for Sexual Assault

Seoul: Taeil, a former member of the K-pop boy group NCT, was sentenced by a court to 3 1/2 years in prison after being convicted of a sexual offense. The Seoul Central District Court handed down the sentence to the 31-year-old Taeil and ordered his immediate detention. Two accomplices in his crime were also given the same sentences and detained.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the three men were indicted without detention in March on charges of sexually assaulting a drunken foreign woman in Seoul in June last year. The court also ordered them to complete 40 hours of a sexual violence treatment program, stating that the nature of their crime is severe as the victim was intoxicated and unable to resist at that time.

Prosecutors had demanded a seven-year prison term for them in the previous court hearing. Taeil was expelled from NCT in August last year after being questioned by police over the sexual assault allegations.
