Seoul: Girl group BLACKPINK is set to release a new digital single, "Jump," on Friday, as announced by YG Entertainment. The release, scheduled for 1 p.m., marks the group's first new music in two years and 10 months since their second full-length album, "Born Pink," in September 2022, not counting "The Girls" from a video game soundtrack.
According to Yonhap News Agency, "Jump" introduces a shift from BLACKPINK's previous musical style, featuring an addictive chorus and guitar riffs reminiscent of a Western film. These elements are layered with the members' distinctive vocals. The track was a collaborative effort involving music producers Teddy and 24, along with international lyricists and composers. The music video was directed by award-winning director Dave Meyers.
"You will be able to witness the perfect synergy of the four members reunited after two years and 10 months," YG stated in a release. "In the music video, the narrative of the group BLACKPINK and their influence are presented with powerful visuals, so please look forward to it."
BLACKPINK debuted the song during their "Deadline" world tour at Goyang Sports Complex Main Stadium in Goyang, just northwest of Seoul, last weekend. The tour will continue to 15 other cities, including Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, Paris, Milan, London, and Bangkok.
