Anmyeon island: Army special operations troops on Friday concluded a comprehensive exercise aimed at enhancing their maritime infiltration capabilities near Anmyeon Island, situated off the west coast, officials announced. The exercise spanned five days, commencing on Monday and involved approximately 150 personnel from the Army Special Warfare Command, utilizing around 20 pieces of specialized equipment, including special operations boats.
According to Yonhap News Agency, this year's training incorporated a 130-ton vessel, marking a significant addition to the exercise designed to bolster the troops' maritime infiltration skills in wartime scenarios. The Army ensured the presence of heat-prevention rescue kits and first responders at the training location to prevent heat-related incidents, responding to the extreme heat waves affecting the country.
Lieutenant Colonel Yoo Sun-min, who led the operation, stated, "Through this year's training, we could beef up our maritime infiltration capabilities one step further." The successful completion of this exercise highlights the Army's commitment to maintaining high readiness levels and enhancing specialized operational skills crucial for national defense.
