Seoul: President Lee Jae Myung has sent official invitation letters to 20 other leaders of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) for this year’s summit in South Korea, his office said Tuesday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, South Korea will host the upcoming APEC summit in Gyeongju, about 370 kilometers southeast of Seoul, from Oct. 31 to Nov. 1. In the letter, Lee stated that this year’s summit, held under the theme of “Sustainable Future,” will cover key agenda items including regional connectivity, digital innovation, and the promotion of shared prosperity, presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung told reporters.
In the lead-up to the summit, APEC Senior Officials’ Meetings and the joint ministerial meeting of foreign affairs and trade will take place during the final week of October. Additionally, a series of business-related events, including sessions of the APEC Business Advisory Council, are scheduled to occur.
