Pyongyang: The president of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) is currently visiting North Korea, as reported by the country's state media on Sunday. However, the details of the visit have not been disclosed.
According to Yonhap News Agency, a delegation from the WBSC, led by President Riccardo Fraccari, arrived in Pyongyang on Saturday. The delegation was welcomed at the airport by Park Chon-jong, who serves as the vice minister of physical culture and sports, as stated in a brief dispatch by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
Baseball and softball are not widely recognized as popular sports in North Korea. Despite this, Fraccari had previously shown interest in promoting baseball in the region. During his visit to South Korea in 2014, he expressed a willingness to visit North Korea to further the sport's development.
