Seoul: Pan Ocean Co. on Thursday reported its second-quarter net profit of 122.8 billion won (US$88.3 million), marking a 12 percent increase from the same period last year. This significant rise in net income highlights the company's robust financial performance despite a decline in operating income.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Pan Ocean's operating income for the April-June period was 123 billion won, reflecting a 9 percent decrease from a year ago. However, the company's revenue demonstrated growth, rising by 4.9 percent to reach 1.29 trillion won.
The earnings report not only shows an increase in net income but also indicates that Pan Ocean's performance exceeded market expectations. Analysts had predicted an average net profit of 79.8 billion won, based on a survey conducted by Yonhap Infomax, a financial data firm associated with Yonhap News Agency.
