Seoul: LG Display Co., a major South Korean display panel maker, has announced progress in boosting productivity and reducing costs by adopting artificial intelligence (AI) solutions across various areas of its operations. The company attributes these advancements to its "AI Transformation (AX)" initiative, which focuses on applying AI programs to enhance efficiency in sectors ranging from quality control to document generation.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Jeong Chul-dong, CEO of LG Display, stated that the implementation of AX has led to structural reform, reduced costs, and improved profitability. The AI system has notably enhanced efficiency in the production of organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panels by analyzing the causes of process errors and providing solutions.
LG Display projects that its AI-based production system will generate an annual value of 200 billion won (US$144.3 million). The company also aims to improve office productivity through the "Hi-D" AI assistant, which supports real-time interpretation during virtual meetings and can generate meeting minutes.
The program is expected to handle more complex tasks, such as drafting presentation materials and business documents, by the end of this year. Additionally, LG Display reported that the program has helped save 10 billion won annually by reducing costs previously spent on third-party AI solutions.
