Samsung, LG Showcase Latest Display Technologies at Seoul Exhibition

Seoul: South Korea's top two display giants showcased their latest products at a major exhibition Thursday, offering a glimpse of future applications in wearables, the automotive industry and more. The Korea Display Exhibition kicked off a three-day run in southern Seoul, with 143 companies, including material, component and equipment suppliers, presenting their latest innovations.

According to Yonhap News Agency, during the event, Samsung Display Co. unveiled a prototype organic light-emitting diode-on-silicon (OLEDoS) panel, which is considered a key component in extended-reality devices on the back of its ultra-high resolution. The company also showcased its new MicroLED display, boasting a maximum brightness of 6,000 nits, a benchmark for display brightness, designed for wearable devices. This figure marks an improvement over its previous model introduced at CES 2025 in January, which came with a brightness of 4,000 nits. "The display can be bent freely without disrupting brightness or color, allowing for application in various designs," the company said.

Samsung Display officially launched its new brand MONT Flex for foldable organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panels, highlighting its products' durability and slimness. The South Korean display giant said the brand stands for "mechanically durable, opto-mechanically flat, narrow bezel enabling, and thin and light," referring to its product vision.

LG Display Co. also unveiled its latest products, including an 83-inch OLED panel featuring fourth-generation technology. Other products introduced included a 14-inch Tandem OLED panel with a two-layer structure, which offers twice the brightness of existing OLED panels. "(The panel offers) both high brightness with low power consumption while enabling a thin and lightweight design with a single glass substrate structure," LG Display said. "We will secure sustainable technological competitiveness and provide differentiated customer value by not only bringing commercial technologies to maturity but also solidly preparing R and D capabilities for future technologies," it added.
