Seoul: LG Uplus Corp., a major mobile carrier in South Korea, on Friday reported its second-quarter net profit of 217.1 billion won (US$156.9 million), marking a 31.9 percent increase from the same period last year.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the company disclosed in a regulatory filing that its operating profit for the April-June period rose 19.9 percent on-year to 304.5 billion won. Additionally, sales climbed by 10 percent to reach 3.84 trillion won during this period.
The earnings results surpassed market expectations, as analysts had predicted an average net profit of 183.9 billion won, based on a survey conducted by Yonhap Infomax, the financial data arm of Yonhap News Agency.
