Haenam: The lone LPGA tournament held in South Korea each fall will be played on a seaside course on the southern coast this year, the event's organizers announced. The BMW Ladies Championship is scheduled to take place at Pine Beach Golf Links in Haenam, South Jeolla Province, located approximately 330 kilometers south of Seoul, from October 16 to 19.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the LPGA and BMW Korea have been rotating the tournament's location across the country since its inception in the southeastern city of Busan, which hosted the first two editions in 2019 and 2021. The 2020 event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2022 tournament took place in the eastern town of Wonju, while the city of Paju in Gyeonggi Province, about 30 kilometers northwest of Seoul, hosted the next two editions.
Pine Beach Golf Links, designed by Gary Roger Baird and Davie Dale, is known for its greens and tee boxes that are situated along the beach and on seaside cliffs. It is recognized as one of South Korea's top courses, offering challenges with its sloping fairways and bunkers.
In addition, BMW Korea has announced the extension of its partnership with the LPGA to continue hosting the tournament in South Korea through 2029.
