KT Corp. Achieves Significant Q2 Profit Growth with 78.6% Increase


Seoul: KT Corp., South Korea’s second-largest mobile carrier, announced a substantial increase in its second-quarter net profit, reaching 733.3 billion won (US$527.6 million), which marks a 78.6 percent rise from the same period last year. This financial performance underscores the company’s robust growth trajectory amid challenging market conditions.



According to Yonhap News Agency, KT Corp. disclosed in a regulatory filing that its operating profit for the April-June period surged by 105.4 percent year-on-year, totaling 1.01 trillion won. Additionally, the company’s revenue saw a commendable increase of 13.5 percent, amounting to 7.42 trillion won.



The reported earnings surpassed market expectations significantly. Analysts had projected an average net profit of 683.7 billion won, as per a survey conducted by Yonhap Infomax, the financial data division of Yonhap News Agency. This unexpected profitability highlights KT Corp.’s strategic initiatives and operational efficiencies contributing to its financial success.
