Seoul: President Lee Jae Myung on Tuesday expressed hopes to initiate dialogue with North Korea, following the South Korean military's announcement that the North has dismantled some of its propaganda loudspeakers along the inter-Korean border.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Lee shared during a Cabinet meeting, "We have been recently dismantling our loudspeakers along the border and I understand the North has also removed some of its loudspeakers, though I am not certain if it is complete." The president emphasized that these actions could potentially pave the way for dialogue and communication between the two Koreas.
Late last week, the South Korean military reported that North Korea had started dismantling some of its loudspeakers at the border, coinciding with Seoul's completion of removing its anti-Pyongyang loudspeakers. This move by Seoul aligns with President Lee's ongoing efforts to repair strained relations with Pyongyang.
