According to Yonhap News Agency, the Financial Services Commission (FSC) convened an extraordinary meeting to recommend a successor to Lee Bok-hyun, the former head of the FSS. The selection process for the FSS governor involves a recommendation by the FSC chief, followed by an appointment by the president, underlining the importance of this role in the nation's financial oversight.
Lee Chan-jin's connection with President Lee Jae Myung dates back to their days as classmates at the Judicial Research and Training Institute, having both passed the bar exam in 1986. A graduate of Seoul National University, Lee has maintained a consistent presence in the sphere of liberal civic movements, notably through his involvement with the Lawyers for a Democratic Society, commonly referred to as Minbyun.
