Seoul: Former first lady Kim Keon Hee was placed in a solitary cell on Wednesday, following a Seoul court's decision to issue a warrant for her arrest amid investigations into corruption allegations.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim's arrest marks a significant moment as she and her husband, former President Yoon Suk Yeol, become the first former presidential couple to be detained at the same time. Kim was transferred to the Seoul Nambu Detention Center in the southwestern part of the city just hours before the Seoul Central District Court issued the warrant on Tuesday. The court cited the possibility that she might destroy evidence as the reason for the warrant.
At the detention center, Kim underwent standard entry procedures applicable to all detainees, which included a physical examination and the taking of mug shots. She was dressed in a khaki-colored prison uniform during this process.
