Seoul: The central bank announced plans to issue commemorative coins in recognition of the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, which is set to occur in Gyeongju, a southeastern city in the country.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the Bank of Korea (BOK) will release two types of commemorative silver coins. These coins aim to celebrate Korea's hosting of APEC 2025, enhance the nation's economic and diplomatic profile, and reaffirm the importance of cooperation among APEC member countries.
Applications for purchasing these coins will be accepted by the BOK from September 8 through September 26, with distribution slated to begin in late October. The APEC summit itself is scheduled for October 31 and November 1 in Gyeongju, approximately 275 kilometers southeast of Seoul.
