Presidential Office to Announce 150 Trillion-Won Fund for High-Tech Industries

Seoul: The presidential office announced plans to unveil a public presentation aimed at establishing a 150 trillion-won (US$120 billion) public-private fund to bolster investment in artificial intelligence (AI) and other advanced industries.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the initiative, known as the "Public Growth Fund," marks an expansion from President Lee Jae Myung's original proposal of 100 trillion won. The government intends to collaborate with private investors to expedite AI integration across various sectors and allocate resources to strategic industries, including semiconductors, biotechnology, and energy.

The forthcoming announcement is set to convene key figures, such as the ministers of finance, science and ICT, and industry, alongside prominent business leaders like SK Chairman Chey Tae-won, Celltrion CEO Seo Jung-jin, Samsung Electronics President Park Seung-hee, and FuriosaAI CEO Baek Joon-ho.
