Seoul: LG Energy Solution Ltd. announced plans to strengthen oversight at its overseas business sites, following the release of workers detained in a U.S. immigration crackdown. The company has committed to providing comprehensive support to its employees as they return home.
According to Yonhap News Agency, LG Energy Solution issued a statement expressing empathy for the workers affected by the incident. The company emphasized its commitment to ensuring the safe return of the employees to South Korea and outlined its plans for thorough preparations to facilitate their transition.
The statement further highlighted LG Energy Solution's dedication to providing the necessary resources to help the workers regain stability and recover their health. The company also noted its intention to enhance management systems to prevent similar incidents at its international business locations in the future.
The incident saw 316 Korean nationals leave a detention center in Folkston, Georgia. They were detained following a raid at an electric vehicle battery plant construction site, operated by a joint venture between Hyundai Motor Group and LG Energy Solution, in Bryan County near Savannah. A chartered flight is scheduled to bring the workers back to Korea by Friday.
