Lutnick Instructs Korean Workers on Visa Issues Following Georgia Raid: Report

Savannah: U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick expressed his stance on the recent arrest of Korean workers at a Georgia battery plant construction site, advising them to secure the "right visa" and contact him if they encounter any visa-related issues.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Lutnick's comments came during an interview with Axios, coinciding with the departure of 316 Korean workers who were returning home after being released from a detention center in Folkston, Georgia. These workers had been detained following an immigration raid at a joint Hyundai-LG Energy Solution venture site in Bryan County.

During the "Axios Show," Lutnick stated that he had directly communicated with Korean officials, urging them to ensure workers obtain the proper visas. He emphasized the importance of adhering to the correct procedures and offered assistance by contacting Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem if needed. Lutnick noted that the current administration under Donald Trump requires strict compliance with immigration laws.
