Pyongyang: North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has expressed a willingness to engage in dialogue with the United States, contingent upon Washington's abandonment of its focus on denuclearization. Kim made these comments during a significant parliamentary meeting held over the weekend.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim stated that if the U.S. relinquishes its insistence on denuclearization and considers a peaceful coexistence with North Korea, there would be no barrier to discussions. He also mentioned having a positive recollection of former U.S. President Donald Trump, which could potentially influence future interactions.
Kim's remarks also addressed South Korea, where he firmly ruled out the possibility of dialogue. He emphasized that North Korea has no intention of pursuing unification with South Korea, thereby drawing a clear line in relations with the neighboring country.
