Incheon: Finance ministers from member economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) are set to convene in South Korea next week to deliberate on the burgeoning digital economy, with a focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and financial challenges arising from industrial and demographic shifts, as announced by Seoul's finance ministry on Friday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the APEC Finance Ministers' Meeting will be held in Incheon, located just west of Seoul, from Tuesday to Thursday. The meeting is themed "Building a Sustainable Tomorrow," as outlined by the Ministry of Economy and Finance. This gathering will serve as the final ministerial meeting ahead of the APEC summit, which is slated to occur in Gyeongju, in the southeastern part of the country, from October 31 to November 1.
The agenda for the upcoming meeting is set to include a range of critical topics, such as the global economic outlook, AI, and the digital economy, alongside strategies to promote sustainable growth amid ongoing industrial and demographic transitions. The ministry highlighted that this year's meeting holds particular significance as it will be the first time it is jointly held with the APEC Structural Reform Ministerial Meeting.
