Incheon: Immigration authorities have apprehended a Chinese national who had gone missing after entering South Korea through the western port of Incheon last month. The individual was among six Chinese nationals who disappeared upon arrival at the port, located just west of Seoul, on September 29, without a visa, as reported by immigration officials.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the apprehended individual entered the country on a cruise ship tourism landing permit, which allows Chinese group tourists visa-free entry into South Korea. Authorities believe that the person boarded the cruise ship, Dream, and went missing after attending a fried chicken and beer festival in the port city with other tourists.
Officials managed to persuade the Chinese national to voluntarily surrender through an acquaintance who had been assisting them in the country. The authorities plan to question the individual regarding violations of immigration law.
The immigration office has stated that they will continue efforts to track and apprehend the remaining five individuals who are still missing.
