Seoul: Trade Minister Yeo Han-koo met with the head of Bangladesh's state-backed investment agency Thursday and discussed ways to expand economic partnerships, the trade ministry said.
According to Yonhap News Agency, during a meeting with Ashik Chowdhury, chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority, in Seoul, Yeo emphasized the importance of strong economic ties between the two nations. They discussed advancing negotiations for the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
Yeo highlighted the shared goal of reaching an agreement on the CEPA before Bangladesh graduates from Least Developed Country status and expressed optimism about achieving practical results soon.
The South Korean trade minister also sought the Bangladesh government's support in creating a safer investment environment for South Korean companies. He cited challenges related to Bangladesh's customs, remittance, and tax systems.
