APEC 2025 CEO Summit to Address AI and Energy Transition in Gyeongju

Gyeongju: The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit is set to commence this week in Gyeongju, gathering around 1,700 participants from APEC member economies and global companies to discuss pressing economic issues such as artificial intelligence (AI) and energy transition.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) will host a welcome reception on Tuesday for international business leaders, encouraging dialogue on global topics including AI, digital currency, carbon neutrality, and supply chains.

Notable attendees at this year's summit include Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Amazon Web Services CEO Matt Garman, Google's Asia Pacific Chief Marketing Officer Simon Kahn, Citigroup CEO Jane Fraser, and Johnson and Johnson CEO Joaquin Duato. Korean business leaders such as SK Group chief Chey Tae-won, Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong, Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung, and LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo will also be present.

The Future Tech Forum, an official sideline event, will occur on Tuesday, featuring an AI forum hosted by SK Group and a retail economy forum. Additionally, the K-Tech Showcase will display AI, mobility, robotics, and display technologies from Korean firms.

The CEO Summit will officially launch on Wednesday at the Gyeongju Arts Center under the theme "Bridge, Business, Beyond," with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung delivering a special address. The summit will include sessions focusing on AI, finance, the culture industry, digital currency, and carbon neutrality. Subsequent days will cover supply chains, semiconductors, digital health, hydrogen, data centers, healthcare, and energy transition.

KCCI chair Chey Tae-won remarked on Korea's suitability as a host, stating that it provides an optimal environment for discussions on energy transition, digital and AI transformation, trade, and biotechnology. He emphasized the importance of exploring sustainable growth and future prosperity within the APEC region amidst current geopolitical and industry changes.
