Daejeon: After an impressive 19-year career in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO), Son Ah-seop of the Hanwha Eagles is finally experiencing his first Korean Series. A midseason trade from the NC Dinos, coupled with the Eagles' rise in the standings, has brought the 37-year-old designated hitter to this significant moment.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Son expressed that he did not feel any extraordinary emotions about his debut in the Korean Series. Speaking before the Eagles' Game 3 matchup against the LG Twins at the Daejeon Hanwha Life Ballpark, Son described the experience as a continuation of their previous postseason series.
One of the significant changes for Son and the Eagles has been their offensive performance. While they secured an 11-2 victory over the Samsung Lions in the deciding Game 5 of the earlier round, they have only managed to score seven runs in total during the first two losses of the Korean Series. In Game 2, despite an early lead with four runs in the first inning, the team struggled to maintain momentum.
Son, who was initially moved to the No. 6 spot in the lineup for the second game, returned to the leadoff position for Game 3. He has recorded a batting statistic of 2-for-8 with a double so far. Son emphasized the importance of getting on base to support his teammates, who are in good form at the plate.
After the Eagles' initial setbacks on the road, Son expressed his eagerness to perform in front of the home crowd. He acknowledged the challenges of not always achieving desired results despite best efforts but maintained that the atmosphere in the team's clubhouse remains positive. Son hopes that playing on their home turf will help the Eagles shift the series' momentum in their favor.
